What's my Identity?

Taken from here

This is the very symptom of what is wrong with Singapore. Every single social habit, every single cultural value must be bent in subservience to the forked hoof of the golden calf god of commerce. Even your language, even your smile must be economically productive. Don't be surprised if somewhere, some ministry official has already put an economic value to your children.

Why do they think this policy will continue to serve us? Hong Kong and the entire Asia continent do not have to prostitute themselves to such pathetic levels to continue achieving their economic growth. And with the ascending India and China, doesn't it make more sense to ask Singaporeans to learn Hindi and Chinese instead? LKY's policy of eliminating our native languages such as dialects have driven us to become a people who does not have an identity. The only recourse they have now is to try to inject some value into their adopted language, English. And even that is now considered wrong. Speak Standard English. Fuck that. What is standard english? Whose standard is it? UK? US? Australian? Even the english language adopts foreign phrases such as deja vu, which is french. Is that considered "Standard English"? or "quid pro quo", which is latin.

In which case, since we want to adopt standard english so much, let's rewrite our national anthem in English. better still, hire a native ang mo from UK or US to rewrite it for us, so it will be "accurate".

All citizens should drop their ethnic names and take on pure english names like Llyord Deacon or Dustin Cain because that's what we aspire to be. To be just like the caucasians so they are comfortable with us and do business with us.

One really need to ask themselves: Why should one stay in a country which does not, "could not afford to", and will never have an identity - which is prostituted in the vulgar market place.

Don't u feel lost sometimes? I felt even worse when German frens ask about my culture. To be honest i have none. It is the sad truth.

When you see different cultures in the same country, u see very distinct differences. But in SG, the only thing easily seperates u and me is skin color.

Ask yourself: " What is gg to happen in the next generation?"
