I stare at the laptop screen wondering when is 31 july coming. I count the number of days in my mind each morning i wake up. I confirm the final digit counting with my fingers.
"Damn the heat is unbearable" i mused. The mornings were no longer sunny and cooling. They wake me up each day radiating my bedroom with UV rays invisible to the naked eye but highly sensitive to my tropical skin. I sat up and crouched over the edge of my bed.
"Damn still must get up to go to work", my subconscious thoughts hammered into my mind. I dread the monotony of each week day. Waking up at 730 am to the tune of pubescent kids noisily making their way to the school outside my apratment. Timing my teeth brushing and putting on my clothes to perfection - the amount of time required to boil my soft-boiled egg. Breakfast only amounts to 2 toasts with butter spread and a soft-boiled egg, varying on alternate days. Every 5 minutes checking the time to leave the apartment while combing my non-conditioned long frayed hair at the same time. If time permits, i get to use my nail clipper to scruff out the dandruff stuck in between the teeth of my comb. As bright as orange seems, the comb is the only color that injects life in my monochrome room. All my furniture were dismantled and thrown away. I had already packed most of my stuff.
"Damn still got to buy groceries after work", i thought to myself as the tram sashayed its way rather robotically towards my workplace. Food was only for thought, isn't it? My mind has slowly evolved to middle-age woman capable of calculating the best possible prices for smallest bargains. Going to a grocery store was always full of mathematics and economics. On top of addition and subtraction, i had to utilise my left brain to evaluate the beauty and artistry of the vegetable for its freshness and ripeness. Not only that, all 5 senses cooperated to determine its best possible candidate for dinner later tonight. All that for a sack of potatoes.
"Damn"
